Main Application
1. Water softener and buffering agent in detergent industry
2. Quality modifier, pH adjustment, water reserving agent and other functions in food industry
3. Paper making
4. Dispersing agent in oil drilling mud
5. Ceramic, mining, water treatment industry and etc.
Function in detergent industry:
STPP is a good auxiliary in detergent industry, the usual dosage is about 10~35%, the function of STPP in detergent system are:
1. Soften the hard water by reacting with metal ions of Ca2+, Mg2+, Fe3+ and others to make them from insoluble to soluble Na5P3O10+Ca2+ ---> Na3(CaP3O10)+2Na+
2. Enhancing the emulsifying and dispersing power, to increase the solubility of protein and dust which normally existing in the fabrics from daily life
3. Buffering agent, to make the pH value of detergent solution on the level of 9~9.5, so that those acid dirt can be easily removed from fabrics
4. Anti-caking agent for detergent powder. Since detergent powder is easily caking in exposed air, STPP can absorb the moisture and become Hexahydrate, which is dry and free flowing
Important Notice
1. About Phase 1 (Phase I) and Phase 2 (Phase II) - Phase 1 and Phase 2 are the same in chemical properties, they just have different crystal structure or crystal shape - STPP made from mass production is a mixture of both Phase 1 and Phase 2 - Different phase 1 or phase 2 content is related to different temperature and speed in production and hydration. The hydration of phase 1 is faster, release more heat during the hydration and easily get caked during the dissolving process. The relationship between the Phase I content and temperature rise of hydration is as below: Phase I content = 4 (T-6) T (Temperature rise) = T1 - T0 (T1 is the temperate after hydration, T0 is the temperature before hydration) So if the Phase I content is 27.6% 27.6 = 4 (T-6) T=12.9ºC(Means the temperatue rise is 12.9 ºC)
2. We normally list 2 years as the shelf life in our COA, the real shelf life is actually much longer than 2 years if it's stocked in good condition (bags are sealed enough, away from direct sun-light, moisture and other incompatible chemical materials)
