Product Parameters
Appearance: pale white to yellowish powder
Physical and Chemical data:
Carburizing Point | Density | Refractive index |
235~248ºC | 1.6g/cm3 | 1.515 |
Solubility: Soluble in water, not soluble in organic solvent
Main types:
There are many types for different applications, it's up to the following requests to define the type and grade:
1. Which industry: normally each industry has it's own type CMC
2. Raw material: CMC can be made from cotten, wasted cotten, wood, straw and even soybean curb residue
3. Purity: From 55% to 99.5%
4. Degree of substitution (D.S.): also called etherification degree, normal range is 0.4 to 1.2, higher D.S. Means higher solubility in water. For D.S.: 0.2~0.3, it is only soluble in alkali solution
5. Viscosity: from 5~2500 m.Pas for 1% solution, some industries needs the data of 2% solution

Main Application
CMC is called industrial MSG (Mono Sodium Glutamate), it's widely used in many industries:
1. Detergent and personal care chemical industry
2. Food industry
3. Oil drilling
4. Textile, dyeing
5. Paper making
6. Mining
7. Porcelain
8. Construction
9. Pharmaceutical industry
Function in detergent industry:
Due to the chemical and physical properties of CMC, it's used as the suspending agent in detergent system and the flocculanting agent in water treatment applications. It can keep the dirt particles suspending in the solution, and prevent most dirt particles from becoming sediment on the fabrics again
Important Notice
1. Incompatible conditions:
- Strong alkali solutions
- Soluble metal salts
- Organic solutions
2. Above suggested dosage and application is just for reference, for exact instruction, please refer to the related engineers and the local law and regulations of your area
3. We normally list 2 years as the shelf life in our COA, the real shelf life is actually longer than 2 years if it's stocked in good condition (bags are sealed enough, away from direct sun-light, moisture and other incompatible chemical materials)
