Product Parameters
Product Description:
Colorless transparent liquid with fragrant smell. Soluble with ethanol, ethyl ether and general organic solvent, soluble in hydrocarbons. It's explosive. mixtures with air and steam can cause explosion. It's stimulating. Have narcotic when with high concentrations. An explosion occur when encounter with the burning flame and high heat. Strong reaction can occur when encounter with oxidants.
Main indexes:
Index | Standard |
Appearance | Liquid |
Content (butyl acetate) by wt % | 99.7 min |
Butyl alcohol by wt % | 0.1 |
Acidity (as acetic acid) by wt % | 0.003 |
Moisture by wt % | 0.08 |
Density (20ºC) by g/cm3 | 0.878 - 0.883 |
Main Application
n-Butyl Acetate is used as solvent in coating, lacquer, printing ink, adhesive, leatheroid, nitroellulose, etc. It is the solvent of some cosmetics, acting as medium boiling solvent of nail polishes to dissolve the epithelium forming agents, like: nitrocellulose, acrylate and alkyd resins. It also can be used to prepare the remover of nail polishes. It is often mixed with ethyl acetate while inuse. It is also applied to prepare perfume. It appears in the recipes of apricot, banana, pear and pineapple essences. In petroleum refining and pharmaceutical industry, it is used as extractant, especially the extractant of some antibiotics. n-Butyl Acetate is an azeotrope former with good ability to carry water. It is often used to condense some weak solution to reduce energyconsumption.
Important Notice
We normally list 24 months as the shelf life in our COA, the real shelf life can be slightly longer than 24 months if it's stocked in good condition (bags are sealed enough, away from direct sun-light, moisture and other incompatible chemical materials), but it's still suggested to avoid long time storage.
