Product Parameters
Product Description:
Formic acid is the simples kind of carboxylic acid. Colorless liquid without stimulating odour. Formic acid belongs to the weak electrolyte, but the aqueous solution features weak acid and caustic property which can stimulate the blister of the skin. Usually it exists in the secretions of bee, certain ants and caterpillars. It's a kind of organic chemical raw materials, also used as a disinfectant and preservative.
Main indexes:
Index | Standard | |
Appearance | Colorless liquid
Formic acid content by wt % | 85 min
Chloride (as CL) by wt % | 0.02 max
Sulphate (as SO42-) by wt % | 0.05 max |
Main Application
Formic acid is one of basic raw materials for organic chemical, widely used in industries of pesticide, leather, dye, medicine and rubber.
Formic acid can be applied directly to the fabric processing, tanning, textile printing and dyeing and green fodder storage, also can be used as agent for metal surface treatment, rubber fertilizer and industrial solvents.
In organic synthesis it is used for the synthesis of various formate, acridine dyes and formamide series of pharmaceutical intermediates.
Important Notice
We normally list 24 months as the shelf life in our COA, the real shelf life can be slightly longer than 24 months if it's stocked in good condition (bags are sealed enough, away from direct sun-light, moisture and other incompatible chemical materials), but it's still suggested to avoid long time storage.
